The company also announced the appointment of Guy Waipara, Meridian's General Manager of External Relations, has been appointed into the role of General Manager Markets and Production; and Ed McManus joins the Executive Team as Chief Executive of Powershop Australia.

The existing role of GM External Relations has been disestablished with all the corporate functions reporting to that role to be allocated across the business.

Mr Binns said the changes, that take immediate effect, reflect the opportunity to further strengthen Meridian's core business. "It is pleasing that the investment in our own people has given us the bench strength to fill these key roles. I'm looking forward to seeing Meridian continue to deliver under these new appointments," adds Mr Binns.

Neal has been a member of the Meridian Executive team since 2008 when he was appointed as CFO, moving into the Markets and Production role in 2009.

"Neal is looking forward to taking on yet another important role for this company," says Mark Binns. "Neal's leadership will continue to drive improvements in our customer focus alongside leveraging the strengths of Meridian's position as one of New Zealand's most sustainable brands."

Guy Waipara, Meridian's General Manager of External Relations, has been appointed into the role of General Manager Markets and Production. "Guy has been on the Meridian Executive Team since 2010 and brings a strong background in engineering, regulatory and market operations necessary to lead the asset management and trading aspects of Meridian's operations, including Meridian's wind operations in Australia," says Mr Binns.

With the departure of Meridian Energy Australia's Chief Executive Ben Burge in January 2016, Ed McManus joins the team as Chief Executive of Powershop Australia. "Ed has been General Manager for Powershop Australia since 2014 and has demonstrated that he is the right person to lead our Powershop Australia team as they continue to grow in Victoria and New South Wales," says Mr Binns.

General Manager, Retail, Neal Barclay is responsible for retail operations and continuing to drive customer focus, leveraging Meridian's position as one of New Zealand's most sustainable brands. Neal was formerly General Manager, Markets and Production. General Manager, Strategy and Finance, Paul Chambers is CFO responsible for strategy coordination, financial performance and reporting and investor relations. General Manager, Human Resources, Jacqui Cleland is responsible for people strategies, capability development, technical training, culture and values.

Chief Executive, Powershop Australia, Ed McManus is responsible for Powershop retail operations in Australia and corporate functions in Meridian's Australian business. Sandra Pickering is appointed as General Manager, Information and Communications Technology. Following the resignation of Glen McLatchie in March 2016, Sandra will lead the IT team from July 2016. Sandra is responsible for ensuring Meridian has the ICT infrastructure, data, processes, security and applications in place to meet its requirements.
