The estimated $6 million Stoner Hill Area Improvements will ensure continued reliability to the area and will provide vital support for local economic development.

The project involves replacing aging wooden poles and transmission line with single steel poles. The route begins at the company's Fort Humbug Substation located near the corner of Viking Drive and East Jordan Street in Stoner Hill. The line parallels Viking Drive and C.E. Galloway Boulevard to Zeke Drive just off of East Kings Highway. The line ends at the Broadmoor Substation located off of Shreveport Barksdale Highway across from Super 1 Foods.

Right-of-way agents will begin contacting landowners along the existing route to discuss the need for land surveying and securing property easements. The project may require additional right-of-way in some areas. Construction is expected to begin this fall and be completed by late 2017.

The need for the project was determined by Southwest Power Pool, the regional transmission organization responsible for overseeing the electric transmission grid in in northwest Louisiana. SPP operates under federal mandate to ensure reliable supplies of power, adequate transmission infrastructure and reasonable wholesale rates.
